Hello Internets!
Long time, no see. March was a bit of a nutty month, between a trip to the States for Lunacon, spraining my knee, the potential of being evicted, having the flu, and going to a conference for work.

No trip home is complete without beer and waffles at the Abbey.
Going home was good for my mental health. It was so nice to reconnect with people, and remind myself that, despite living 3200 miles away, they are still my friends. I had been feeling recently that I had given up so much to move to England. This trip reminded me that in reality, I have gained so much. Distance does make the heart grow fonder.

Carl wants malt liquor!
Inside joke! How I've missed you.
Lunacon was fun as well. Geeks galore! I was on several panels, including three science ones: Health in Space, Alien Biology, and The Year in Science. The Year in Science was my shining moment, when I spouted off about viruses. Because viruses are cool.
Sometimes at the beginning of the month, I sprained my knee. Probably doing something stupid. I hate to be incapacitated in any way, so I was cranky for a couple weeks. It's better now, thank goodness.
There was also the possibility that I would have been evicted this month, due to an issue with the mortgage. That was solved, though, so I'm not going to be evicted. Yay!
Then I got the flu. Boo. Still recovering from that.
And finally, conference for work in Harrogate. It was a useful conference. It's always good to see what other people are up to in the field. The British are obsessed with herpes. I was told that working on herpes is a long standing tradition in Britain. I wonder otherwise. Side note: Every 80 seconds, a British person catches an STD.
But the best part of the conference?

Creamed tea at Betty's. It was so Edwardian I nearly squeed like a little kid. I wanted my walking skirt, corset, frilly blouse, and my Gibson girl hair.
So that was March. Spring is in the air here. It's giving me that familiar feeling of excitement.

Comments
I'm glad you got British tea, and that you had such a good time at the Con.
I'm also glad you got a Chad drawing while you were here, those are important.
As for Karl himself (the ball of yarn not the human) I'm pretty sure he's exploring becoming pagan, and seductively luring a fabulously interesting woman into taking up knitting. May we all have such adventurous lives.
Much Love,
Liz
